Dr. Doug Lisle
Dr. Lisle has been the clinical psychologist at the TrueNorth Health Center for over 30 years. He has published numerous articles in the scientific literature. He is the co-author of The Pleasure Trap and is in private practice, conducting psychotherapy at the TrueNorth Health Center.
Dr. Lisle is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego (Summa Cum Laude). He received the President’s Fellowship and was a Dupont Scholar at the University of Virginia where he completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He was then appointed Lecturer in Psychology at Stanford University and was on the staff at the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Palo Alto, California.
Dr. Lisle worked as a forensic psychologist for the criminal justice system in Dallas, Texas and as a consultant for the National Institute of Health Clinical Trial on Cognitive Therapy for Recurrent Depression at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Lisle lectures nationally to health professionals on topics including evolutionary psychology, cognitive therapy, lifestyle modification, relaxation and stress management, and weight loss. His research and clinical interests have broadened to include health and wellness, self-esteem, relationship satisfaction, the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression, and optimizing achievement motivation.
Dr. Columbus Batiste
Columbus D. Batiste, MD, FACC, FSCAI is a board certified Internist, Cardiologist, and Interventional Cardiologist. He is currently the Chief of Cardiology at Kaiser Permanente Riverside and Moreno Valley Medical Centers, and the former co-director of the Kaiser Permanente Inland Empire Cardiac Catheterization Services.
In 2011, Dr. Batiste led out in establishing the Integrative Cardiovascular Disease Program (based at Kaiser Permanente).
Dr. Batiste is also known as “Healthy Heart Doc”. He has been recognized for his work by multiple organizations ranging from the medical center physician of the year (2010), Inland Empire Magazine Heart Hero (2010), Eagle Award for Excellence in Medicine (2013), to the Derrell Thomas Foundation Community Service Award recipient (2013).
Dr. Batiste’s mission is to share information so that “each one can teach one” about the benefits of exercise and healthy eating and therefore; provide everyone with the opportunity to take control of their health.
Dr. Steve Lawenda
Dr. Steven Lawenda, MD is a board-certified Family Medicine physician in Southern California Kaiser Permanente. In 2013, Dr. Lawenda had an eye-opening experience when he learned about plant-based nutrition. With this new knowledge, Dr. Lawenda transformed his own health and subsequently his practice. Along with a nurse practitioner colleague, Dr. Lawenda co-created and led Lifestyle Medicine programs centered around plant-based nutrition that have helped transform the lives of patients as well as the way in which health care is delivered at his medical center. Dr. Lawenda has spoken on the benefits of plant-based diets at meetings and conferences within Kaiser Permanente, at local events in his community, as well as at health events across the country.
In 2018, Dr. Lawenda co-authored a review of Lifestyle Medicine with several esteemed colleagues that was published in the Permanente Journal. For his work, Dr. Lawenda was honored as a two-time recipient of the Southern California Permanente Medical Group Everyday Hero award (2016, 2017), as well as the 2018 Kaiser Permanente Antelope Valley Physicians’ Exceptional Contribution Award.
Once in her life Heather weighed over 436 lbs. Since then she's released over 238 lbs eating the way you're going to learn at the event.
Heather knows first hand how all the small choices you make, over time add up and have a huge effect on your life. To help others and give hope she created the YouTube channel The Butterfly Effect.
She says of herself that she's not perfect but is living proof that no one has to be perfect to lose weight nor that you have to exercise a lot because her form of exercise is walking.
Tami Kramer is the Author and Editor of the NutmegNotebook.com Whole Food Plant Based Cooking and lifestyle blog. She is also our On-Screen teacher for the Nutmeg Notebook Youtube Channel.
She is the "batch-cooking" queen and loves sharing her tips and tricks in the kitchen.
Dr. Hans Diehl
Dr. Hans Diehl is an epidemiologically trained lifestyle interventionist. He holds a doctorate in Health Science and a master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition. He is founder of the Lifestyle Medicine Institute in Loma Linda, California where he is also a Clinical Professor of Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine of Loma Linda University.
He is the founder of CHIP (the Complete Health Improvement Project) with more than 85,000 graduates. Findings from his work have been published in more than 45 scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, including the American Journal of Cardiology, the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, and Preventive Medicine. CHIP is endorsed by the Physicians’ Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI).
Professor Diehl has co-authored two books – The Optimal Diet Cookbook and Health Power: Health by Choice Not Chance, translated into 35 languages and an international bestseller with more than 2 million copies in print.
